The Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay is one of the five
IITs established by the Government of India for fostering excellence in
teaching and research in science and technology. Admission to these institutes
is through the extremely competitive Joint Entrance Examination ( JEE),
( probably the toughest examination of it's kind ) which covers the
subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The few who make it past the
examination are at the beginning of the four most memorable years of their
lives, their years as IITians.

My Life at IITB
I was one of the more fortunate freshmen of my batch, not being put into
Hostels 2-8.
Thanks to my good luck, I really enjoyed my stay in IIT, in
Hostel 9 ( Pluto ) with some of the best friends I'll ever
have, the Batch of '94.

Academic life was also cool, as I had taken the precaution of not
doing too well in JEE, and so I ended up in the Metallurgical Engineering
department( Now known as Met. Engg. & Materials Science ), and got by
with a little help from my friends, the
taporis ( IITB slang ) of the Class of '94.
